Now What?

Well, now what?  All of the celebrations for the 4th are over.  Most of the big fireworks displays have already taken place,  you couldn’t eat another hot dog if you had too, and you don’t think it’s safe to eat the potato salad.  Having  a bit of a let down?  How about some July 5 trivia, just for fun!?!

  • My mother was born on the 5th of July.  She always called herself a delayed firecracker. delayed firecracker (OK, not earth shaking,  but I thought I’d throw it in!)
  • I found a really cool picture.  Technically, it didn’t happen on July 5th–it appeared online on July 5th, 2008.  It took place in January of 2007 in Perth, Australia.  But, it is one cool picture!!!  Fireworks, lightening and a comet appearing in the sky at the same time!  You have GOT to see this!
  • And the piece de resistance…Tadah!!!!!   The Bikini was invented in Paris, France on this day in 1946!  Did you know that it was named after the location of the first peace time explosion of a nuclear weapon?  The explosion occurred on Bikini Atoll in the Marshall Islands in the Pacific Ocean 4 days before.  Louis Reard named his little contribution to swimming attire after the island because it cause such an “explosion on the fashion scene”!  At the time, he couldn’t get any self-respecting fashion model to wear it, so he had to get a nude dancer!

My….. how things have changed!                                  04-thong-bikini-12
